Poker odds calculator
Enter each player's two hole cards and any community cards on the board. The calculator counts every remaining deal when only a few cards are unknown, and otherwise deals out tens of thousands of random boards in your browser to estimate each hand's chance of winning.
Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
How to use it
- Choose the number of players.
- Type each player’s two cards, such as
Ah Ad, or leave a box empty for an unknown hand.
- Add the board cards if the flop, turn or river is out, and read win, tie and equity for every player.
How it works
Each hand is valued by its best five of seven cards: the category first, then the ranks that break ties (kickers). If the number of ways to deal the unknown cards — the rest of the board plus any random hands — is at most 60,000, all of them are counted. Otherwise the calculator shuffles the remaining deck 30,000 times in your browser and plays each deal out. A pot shared by several players adds an equal share to each of their equity.
Worked example
A♥ K♥ against Q♠ Q♣ on 2♥ 7♥ 9♣ J♠, with the river to come: 44 cards are unseen. The A-K wins with any of the 9 remaining hearts (a flush), any of the 3 other aces and any of the 3 other kings (a higher pair): 15 cards, so 15 / 44 = 34.1 %. The queens win on the other 29 cards, 65.9 %.
Tips
- Equity is not the whole decision: compare it with the pot odds you are getting.
- Running the simulation again gives slightly different numbers; the margin tells you how much they can move.
Frequently asked questions
What is poker equity?
Your share of the pot on average if the hand were played out many times with no more betting: the chance of winning outright plus your share of split pots. Two hands that split every time each have 50 % equity.
Is the result exact?
When at most 60,000 deals remain — for example two known hands on the flop (990 turn-and-river combinations) — every deal is counted and the result is exact. Before the flop there are over 1.7 million boards, so the calculator deals 30,000 random ones; the margin shown is a 95 % range for the estimate.
How often does AA beat KK?
Before the flop, aces win about 81–82 % of the time against kings. On a Q-7-2 rainbow flop the kings need one of the two remaining kings without an ace, which happens on 83 of the 990 possible turn-and-river pairs, about 8.4 %.
How are hands ranked?
From high to low: straight flush (a royal flush is the ace-high one), four of a kind, full house, flush, straight, three of a kind, two pair, one pair, high card. Each player uses the best five of their seven cards; A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest straight.
What does an empty hand box mean?
A random hand: the opponent could hold any two cards that are not visible. This is how to compare your hand against an unknown opponent.
