Car maintenance log
Add each service with its date, odometer reading, type and cost. Set a reminder such as an oil change every 10,000 km, and the log shows how far you are from the next one. Everything stays on this device; export a CSV for a spreadsheet or backup.
Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
How to use it
- Pick kilometres or miles.
- Add an entry for each service: date, odometer, type, cost and an optional note.
- Under reminders, enter the current odometer, choose a service type and an interval, and press Set reminder.
- Export a CSV when you want a copy.
How it works
- Total is the sum of the costs of all entries.
- Due odometer = odometer of the latest entry of that type + the reminder interval.
- Status: overdue when the current odometer is past it, due soon within 10% of the interval, otherwise on track.
Worked example
You log an oil change at 50,000 km and set a reminder every 10,000 km. It is due at 60,000 km. With the odometer at 59,200 km you are within 10% of the interval (1,000 km), so it shows as due soon; at 60,500 km it is overdue.
Tips
- Update the odometer now and then so the reminders stay current.
- Keep receipts alongside the log; it is a summary, not proof.
- Export before clearing browser data or changing device.
Frequently asked questions
Where is my maintenance log stored?
In your browser's local storage on this device. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account. Private mode, clearing site data or switching browser or device starts an empty log, so export a CSV now and then.
How do the reminders work?
For a service type you set an interval in kilometres or miles. The due odometer is the reading of your latest entry of that type plus the interval. It is compared with the highest odometer known, which is the one you typed in "Odometer now" or the highest entry. Within 10% of the interval it is marked due soon, and past the due reading it is overdue.
What does the CSV contain?
One row per entry, oldest first, with date, odometer in the chosen unit, type, cost with two decimals and the note. Notes starting with =, +, - or @ get a leading apostrophe so spreadsheets do not treat them as formulas.
Which intervals should I use?
Follow your owner's manual or service booklet. The log only does the arithmetic with the numbers you enter.
