Image color picker
Choose a picture, then click or tap a spot on it to read that pixel's colour. The image stays on your device: it is drawn on a canvas in this page and is never uploaded.
Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
How to use it
- Press Choose an image and select a photo or screenshot from your device.
- Click or tap the spot you want. The colour appears with its HEX and RGB values.
- Press Copy to take the HEX code. The last eight colours are listed under it.
What you are reading
The page draws your image on a canvas, scaled so the longer side is at most 1600 pixels, and reads the red, green and blue values of the single pixel under your click. The HEX code is those three values in hexadecimal.
Tips
- On photos, neighbouring pixels differ because of noise and compression. Click a few nearby spots and compare.
- To convert the result to HSL, CMYK or OKLCH, paste the HEX into the color converter.
- Check text on a coloured background with the contrast checker.
Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is opened by your browser, drawn onto a canvas in this page and read pixel by pixel on your device. It never leaves the tab.
Which image formats work?
Whatever your browser can display: usually JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and often AVIF or SVG.
Why is the colour slightly different from what I see in my design tool?
Browsers may apply the image's colour profile when drawing, and JPEG compression changes pixels near edges. For logos and flat colours, click in the middle of an area.
Are very large photos a problem?
Images are scaled down to at most 1600 pixels on the longer side before they are shown, so the picked colour comes from that scaled copy. This keeps the page fast on phones.
