Social share link generator

Share buttons do not need scripts or tracking widgets: each network has a plain link that opens its share dialog. Enter the page address, a short text and hashtags, and copy the ready links for your site, newsletter or email signature.

Separate with commas or spaces; the # is optional.

Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Paste the full address of the page you want shared.
  2. Add a short text or title and, optionally, hashtags.
  3. Copy the link for each network and use it in a button or a plain link on your site.

How it works

Each link is the network’s public share address with your values percent-encoded (spaces become %20, & becomes %26):

  • X: twitter.com/intent/tweet with url, text and hashtags.
  • Facebook: facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u=…; LinkedIn: linkedin.com/sharing/share-offsite/?url=….
  • Reddit: reddit.com/submit with url and title; Hacker News: news.ycombinator.com/submitlink with u and t.
  • WhatsApp (wa.me) and Bluesky (bsky.app/intent/compose) take one text: your text, hashtags and URL together.
  • Telegram: t.me/share/url with url and text; Pinterest: pinterest.com/pin/create/button/ with url and description.
  • Email: mailto: with the text as the subject and the text plus the URL as the body.

Empty values are left out of the links.

Worked example

URL https://example.com/blog/spring-guide, text “A practical guide to spring gardening”, hashtags “gardening, spring”. The Facebook link becomes:

https://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fexample.com%2Fblog%2Fspring-guide

and the X link carries &hashtags=gardening%2Cspring.

Tips

  • Open links in a new tab with target="_blank" rel="noopener" so readers stay on your page.
  • Test each link once: networks change their share pages from time to time.
  • Keep the text short; some networks cut long text.

Frequently asked questions

How do share links work?

Each network has a web address that opens a share or compose window with your link and text filled in, for example https://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u= followed by the encoded page URL. A plain link in an a tag is enough.

Why do some networks ignore my text?

Facebook and LinkedIn take only the URL and read the title, description and image from the page's Open Graph meta tags. Set those tags on the page to control how the post looks.

Where do the hashtags go?

X gets them in its own hashtags parameter. For WhatsApp, Telegram and Bluesky they are added to the text as #tags. The other networks do not take hashtags in the link.

Is anything sent to a server?

No. The links are built in your browser by percent-encoding your text. Nothing is sent until someone clicks a link.

Do these links track visitors?

No, they contain only your URL and text. To see which network brought visitors, add UTM parameters to the page URL first with the UTM builder.
