How to use it

  1. Enter how many cigarettes you smoked a day.
  2. Enter how many are in a pack and the pack price in your currency.
  3. Enter the days you have been smoke-free to see the total saved.

How it works

Daily cost = cigarettes per day ÷ pack size × pack price. Saved so far is the daily cost times days smoke-free. Week is 7 days, year is 365 days, month is a year divided by 12, and five years is five times the year.

Worked example

20 cigarettes a day, 20 in a pack, 10 per pack: the daily cost is 10. After 365 days you have saved 3,650 and skipped 7,300 cigarettes. A month is about 304.17.

Good to know

Prices change over time, so treat the totals as an estimate. Money is only one reason to quit, and a doctor can help you find a plan.

Frequently asked questions

How is the saving calculated?

The price of one cigarette is the pack price divided by the pack size. Multiply by cigarettes per day for the daily cost, then by the days smoke-free. Month is a year of 365 days divided by 12.

Which currency does it use?

Any. Enter the pack price in your own currency and the results are in the same currency. The tool does not convert money.

Does it include other costs of smoking?

No. It counts only the price of cigarettes, not lighters, healthcare, insurance or other costs, and it assumes the price stays the same.

Where can I get help quitting?

Talk to a doctor or pharmacist, or your national quit-line. They can explain support options that suit you. This calculator is not medical advice.
