Fasting

h

Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Choose a schedule or type the hours you want to fast.
  2. Press Start fast now when you stop eating, or set an earlier start time.
  3. Watch the countdown. When the fast ends the eating window begins, and the cycle repeats every 24 hours.

How it works

The cycle is 24 hours from your start time: the first part is the fast and the rest is the eating window. The page works out where you are from the current time on every tick, so it stays right if the tab was closed or asleep. The start time and fasting hours are saved in localStorage.

Worked example

With 16:8 and a fast started at 8 pm, the fast ends at noon the next day, the eating window runs until 8 pm, and the next fast begins.

Good to know

Water, tea and coffee without sugar are often allowed during a fast, but rules differ by plan. This is a timer only, not medical advice.

Frequently asked questions

What do 16:8 and 18:6 mean?

The first number is the hours you fast and the second is the hours you eat in a day. With 16:8 you fast for 16 hours and eat within an 8-hour window.

Is my start time sent anywhere?

No. It is stored in this browser with localStorage and never leaves your device. Clearing site data or pressing Clear removes it.

Can I start the fast earlier than now?

Yes. Press Start fast now, then set the time you actually stopped eating in the Fast started at box. The timer recalculates from that time.

Is fasting right for everyone?

No. Fasting is not suitable for everyone, for example for people who are pregnant, have diabetes or a history of eating disorders, or take certain medicines. This timer is not medical advice, so talk to a doctor before you start.
