Net worth calculator

Net worth is what you own minus what you owe. Fill in the boxes you need, leave the rest empty, and the totals update as you type. Nothing leaves your browser.

Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Enter the current value of each asset you have. Empty boxes count as 0.
  2. Enter what you still owe in the debt boxes.
  3. Read your net worth, the totals and the debt ratio.

How it works

  • Total assets = the sum of the six asset boxes.
  • Total debts = the sum of the four debt boxes.
  • Net worth = total assets − total debts.
  • Debt ratio = total debts ÷ total assets.

Worked example

Assets of 1,000 in cash and 2,500.50 in investments make 3,500.50. Debts of 500 in loans and 100 on cards make 600. Net worth is 2,900.50 and debts are 17.1% of assets.

Tips

  • Use the same valuation method each time so changes are comparable.
  • Paying down debt and building assets both raise net worth by the same amount per unit.
  • This is a snapshot, not financial advice.

Frequently asked questions

What is net worth?

It is total assets minus total debts. A positive number means you own more than you owe; a negative number means debts exceed assets.

Which values should I use for property and vehicles?

Use what you could reasonably sell them for today, not what you paid. Leave out items you would never sell if you prefer a narrower measure.

Is my data stored anywhere?

No. The sums run in your browser and nothing is sent or saved.

How often should I check my net worth?

Once or twice a year is enough for most people. Comparing the same boxes over time shows the trend better than any single figure.
