How to use it
- Enter your pay and choose the period it is quoted for.
- Adjust hours per week, days per week and paid weeks per year to your job. The defaults are a 40-hour, 5-day week and 52 paid weeks.
- Leave salary payments per year at 12 unless you are paid in more instalments, for example 13 or 14.
- Read your pay per year, month, week, day and hour.
How it works
Everything is converted through the yearly amount:
- year = hourly × hours per week × weeks per year
- week = year ÷ weeks per year, day = week ÷ days per week, hour = week ÷ hours per week
- month = year ÷ payments per year
Worked example
At 25 an hour, 40 hours a week and 52 weeks, you earn 1,000 a week, 52,000 a year and 4,333.33 a month; a day is 200.
A salary of 3,000 a month is 36,000 a year, 692.31 a week and 17.31 an hour.
Things to keep in mind
- Overtime, bonuses and shift premiums are not included; add them to the yearly amount if they are regular.
- When you compare jobs, compare paid hours: a 37.5-hour week at the same salary pays more per hour than a 40-hour week.
