Follower growth calculator
Enter your follower count at the start and end of a period and the number of days between them. You get the growth in percent, the average gain per day and the compound daily rate, and the days to a follower goal if the pace stays the same.
Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
How to use it
- Enter the followers at the start of the period and now.
- Enter the number of days between the two counts.
- Optionally enter a follower goal to see how long it takes at the current pace.
How it works
- Gained = now − start; growth = gained ÷ start × 100.
- Average gain per day = gained ÷ days.
- Compound daily rate g = (now ÷ start)^(1 ÷ days) − 1; growth per 30 days = (now ÷ start)^(30 ÷ days) − 1.
- Days to the goal at the same daily gain = (goal − now) ÷ gain per day.
- Days to the goal at the same rate = ln(goal ÷ now) ÷ ln(1 + g).
Worked example
An account grew from 1,000 to 1,500 followers in 30 days: +500, or 50%. That is 16.67 followers a day, or about 1.36% a day compounded.
To reach 3,000: at 16.67 a day it takes 1,500 ÷ 16.67 = 90 days; at 1.36% a day it takes ln 2 ÷ ln 1.0136 ≈ 51 days.
Tips
- Use a period of a few weeks or more; a single day is noisy.
- Compare growth with engagement: followers who never interact do little for your reach.
- Remove one-off spikes, such as a giveaway, before forecasting.
Frequently asked questions
How is follower growth rate calculated?
Growth = (followers now − followers at the start) ÷ followers at the start × 100. Going from 1,000 to 1,500 is 50% growth.
What is the compound daily growth rate?
The steady daily rate that turns the starting count into the current one: (now ÷ start)^(1 ÷ days) − 1. 1,000 to 1,500 in 30 days is about 1.36% a day.
Why are there two forecasts?
One assumes you keep gaining the same number of followers each day; the other that you keep growing by the same percent each day. Percent growth reaches a goal sooner, because the daily gain gets bigger as the account grows.
Why is no forecast shown?
When the goal is already reached, or when the account did not grow in the period, the current pace never reaches the goal.
How reliable is the forecast?
It only extends the past period. A viral post, a slower season or a change in the platform's feed can change the pace a lot.
