Cover letter generator
Enter the job, the company and what you can offer, and the tool writes a short cover letter you can copy and polish. The text is a starting point written from a fixed template, so add your own details before you send it.
Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
How to use it
- Fill in your name and contact details, the job title and the company.
- List a few strengths, one per line, and add one achievement if you have it.
- Choose a formal or friendly tone, then copy the letter from the box on the right and edit it in your own document.
How it works
The letter has a header, a greeting, an opening sentence that names the job and company, your strengths as a short list, the achievement, and a closing. Your text is placed into fixed sentences; a blank optional field simply leaves that part out. No text is sent anywhere.
Worked example
With the job “Customer Support Specialist”, the company “Northwind Studio” and a formal tone, the opening reads: “I am writing to apply for the Customer Support Specialist position at Northwind Studio”. In the friendly tone it becomes: “I would love to join Northwind Studio as your Customer Support Specialist”.
Tips
Choose strengths that the job advert asks for, and make the achievement a real, checkable fact with a number if you can. Address the letter to a named person when you know who reads it. Check spelling of the company name.
Frequently asked questions
Is the letter written by AI?
No. It is assembled in your browser from a fixed set of sentences and the details you type, so the same input always gives the same letter. That also means it will not mention anything you do not enter.
How long should a cover letter be?
Many employers like one page, which is roughly 250 to 400 words, but this is a common guideline rather than a rule. The word count under the letter helps you keep track.
What do the square brackets mean?
When a name or job title is left blank, the letter shows a gap in square brackets such as [company]. Fill it in by hand or type the value into the field.
Should I send this letter as it is?
Treat it as a draft. A letter that names something specific from the job advert and from your own work reads far better than a general one, so edit the text before you send it.
