Habit tracker

Add the habits you want to build, then tick each day you do them. The grid shows your current streak, your longest streak and the share of days done. Your habits stay on this device, and the month prints on one page.

No habits yet. Add one above to start the grid.

Habits and ticks are saved in this browser only and are never uploaded.

Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Type a habit and press Add habit. Repeat for each one.
  2. Tap a square to tick a day, and tap again to undo it.
  3. Use the arrows to move between months. This month returns to today.
  4. Press Print for a paper copy of the month.

How it works

Each habit has a list of ticked days for every month, stored in your browser under the key tools.habits. For a month, the sheet shows the number of ticked days, the percentage of elapsed days, the current streak and the best streak. Streaks do not cross month boundaries, because each month is its own grid.

Example

In a 30-day month you tick a habit on days 1, 2, 3 and 5. On day 5 the line reads: 4 done, 80% (4 of 5 days so far), streak 1 (only day 5), best 3 (days 1 to 3).

Tips

  • Start with two or three habits; long lists are hard to keep up.
  • Tick the day as soon as you do it. The streak and percentage are only as accurate as your ticks.
  • To plan the days themselves, try the weekly planner or the to-do list maker.

Frequently asked questions

Where are my habits stored?

In your browser's local storage on this device. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no account. Clearing site data, using private mode or switching browser or device starts a fresh grid.

How is the streak counted?

A streak is a run of consecutive ticked days. The current streak counts back from today, or from yesterday if today is not ticked yet, so it does not drop to zero before the day is over. The best streak is the longest run in the month shown.

How is the percentage calculated?

It is the number of ticked days divided by the days that have already happened in the month, including today. In a past month it is divided by all of its days, and in a future month it stays at 0.

How many habits can I track?

Up to 20, with names up to 40 characters. Removing a habit deletes its ticks for every month.

Can I print the grid?

Yes. Press Print and only the month grid is printed; the buttons and form are hidden. Use landscape orientation for the best fit.
