Mail merge generator
Write your message once with placeholders such as {Name}, paste your recipients from a spreadsheet, and the tool makes one finished letter for every row. Copy each letter or all of them together. Your data stays in your browser.
Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
How to use it
- Write the letter in the first box and mark the changing parts with curly braces, for example {Name}.
- Paste your recipients into the second box. The first line holds the column names, and every later line is one recipient.
- Check the letters on the right. Press Copy under a letter or Copy all letters.
How it works
The table is split into cells by tabs, semicolons or commas, depending on the first line. For each data row the tool replaces every placeholder with the cell from the column of the same name. A cell that is empty gives an empty replacement, and the tool warns you so you can fix the data. At most 500 rows are used.
Worked example
With the template “Dear {First name}, welcome to {Company}.” and the rows “Anna, Acme Ltd” and “Ben, Bolt & Co” under the headers “First name, Company”, you get “Dear Anna, welcome to Acme Ltd.” and “Dear Ben, welcome to Bolt & Co.”
Tips
Keep column names short and without curly braces. Read two or three letters in full before copying them all, since a wrong column order shows up there first. Remove any private data you do not need from the table.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get my recipients into the table?
Select the cells in your spreadsheet, copy them and paste them into the table box. Spreadsheets copy cells separated by tabs, which the tool recognises. A CSV file with commas or semicolons works too, and cells in double quotes may contain commas.
Do the placeholders have to match the column names exactly?
The words must be the same, but capital letters and spaces around the name do not matter, so { first name } finds the column First name. A placeholder with no matching column is left as you typed it and listed in a warning.
Can it send the emails?
No. It only prepares the text, one letter per row, and you copy each one into your mail program or document. For a single prepared link that opens a draft, use the mailto link generator.
Is my recipient list uploaded anywhere?
No. The merge happens in your browser, and the list is not stored.
