K/D ratio calculator

Enter your kills, deaths and assists from the game's stats screen. The calculator gives your K/D and KDA ratios and how many kills you would need without dying again to reach a target K/D.

How to use it

  1. Copy kills, deaths and assists from your stats or match history.
  2. Enter the K/D you want to reach.
  3. Read your K/D and KDA, and the kills you need without dying.

The formulas

  • K/D = kills ÷ deaths (deaths counted as 1 when they are 0).
  • KDA = (kills + assists) ÷ deaths.
  • Kills needed = ⌈target × deaths − kills⌉, or 0 if you are already there.
  • Kill share = kills ÷ (kills + deaths).

Worked example

150 kills, 100 deaths and 60 assists, target 2.0:

  • K/D = 150 ÷ 100 = 1.5;
  • KDA = 210 ÷ 100 = 2.1;
  • kills needed: 2 × 100 − 150 = 50 without dying;
  • kills make up 150 ÷ 250 = 60 % of kills and deaths.

Tips

  • A lifetime K/D moves slowly: after 100 deaths, ten good games barely change it. Track the K/D per match or per week to see progress.
  • Compare K/D only within a game and mode: objective modes and support roles trade kills for wins.
  • A high KDA with a low K/D usually means you set up plays others finish.

Frequently asked questions

How is K/D calculated?

Kills divided by deaths. 150 kills and 100 deaths give a K/D of 1.5: on average you take one and a half opponents down for every time you die. A K/D of 1 means as many kills as deaths.

What is KDA?

KDA counts assists too: (kills + assists) ÷ deaths, as in League of Legends and many shooters. With 60 assists, the example above has a KDA of (150 + 60) ÷ 100 = 2.1. Some games weight assists by half or show the three numbers separately; check your game's definition.

How many kills do I need to reach a target K/D?

Without another death you need target × deaths − kills more kills, rounded up. For a 2.0 K/D from 150/100: 2 × 100 − 150 = 50 kills in a row. Every death raises the bar by the target, so the higher your deaths, the slower the ratio moves.

What if I have zero deaths?

Dividing by zero has no answer, so the calculator divides by 1, as most games do: 10 kills and 0 deaths show a K/D of 10.
