How to use it
- Type a number. A dot or a comma works as the decimal separator.
- Choose the unit you have and the unit you need. The ⇄ button swaps them.
- The table shows the same acceleration in all common units at once.
Conversion factors
Every unit is converted through meters per second squared.
| Unit | In m/s² |
|---|---|
| 1 standard gravity (g₀) | 9.80665 |
| 1 ft/s² | 0.3048 |
| 1 Gal (cm/s²) | 0.01 |
| 1 km/h per second | 1 ÷ 3.6 = 0.27778 |
| 1 mph per second | 0.44704 |
Km/h·s and mph/s are speed gained each second: dividing km/h by 3.6 gives m/s, and 1 mph is exactly 0.44704 m/s.
Worked example
A fast launch might reach 60 mph in 3 seconds, which is 20 mph/s. That equals 20 × 0.44704 = 8.94 m/s², or 8.94 ÷ 9.80665 = 0.91 g.
Tips
- “g-force” in this tool is a multiple of standard gravity, not a measured local value.
- To turn a 0–100 km/h time into an average acceleration, divide 100 by the time in seconds and enter it in km/h·s.
