How to use it

  1. Type a number. A dot or a comma works as the decimal separator.
  2. Choose the unit you have and the unit you need. The swap button reverses them.
  3. The table shows the same value in all common units at once.

Conversion factors

Every unit is converted through radians per second, using 1 turn = 2π rad = 360°.

Unit In rad/s
1 rpm 2π ÷ 60 ≈ 0.104720
1 rev/s 2π ≈ 6.283185
1 °/s π ÷ 180 ≈ 0.017453
1 rev/h 2π ÷ 3600 ≈ 0.001745

Worked example

A motor turning at 3,000 rpm makes 3,000 ÷ 60 = 50 turns per second, which is 50 × 2π ≈ 314.16 rad/s or 18,000 degrees per second.

Quick reference

  • 60 rpm = 1 rev/s = 2π rad/s ≈ 6.283 rad/s
  • 1 rad/s ≈ 9.549 rpm ≈ 57.30 °/s
  • Frequency in hertz equals revolutions per second

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert rpm to rad/s?

Multiply by 2π and divide by 60, which is about 0.10472. For example 3,000 rpm is 3,000 × 2π ÷ 60 ≈ 314.16 rad/s.

What is the difference between rpm and rad/s?

Both measure rotation speed. One rpm is one full turn per minute; one rad/s is an angle of one radian per second. A full turn is 2π radians, so 1 rad/s is about 9.549 rpm.

How many degrees per second is one rpm?

360 degrees in 60 seconds, so 1 rpm = 6 degrees per second.

How do I get linear speed from angular velocity?

Multiply the angular velocity in rad/s by the radius: v = ω × r. This tool converts the angular part only.
