Line chart maker

Paste rows of a label and one or more numbers. Add a header row to name the lines. The chart is drawn at once with a round-number axis. Nothing is uploaded.

Use commas, semicolons or tabs, so you can paste from a spreadsheet. A first row with names becomes the legend. An empty cell leaves a gap. Up to 60 rows and 8 series.

How to use it

  1. Paste or type your table, one row per label.
  2. Optionally add a header row with the series names.
  3. Choose whether to show points and to start at zero, then download.

How it works

The axis range comes from the smallest and largest values, rounded outward to a step of 1, 2 or 5 times a power of ten. Points are evenly spaced along the horizontal axis in row order.

Worked example

The default data has largest value 27, so one fifth is 5.4, which rounds up to a step of 10 and the axis runs 0 to 30.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add several lines?

Put more than one number after the label on each row. Each column becomes a line. If the first row holds names instead of numbers, it is used as the legend.

Can I paste from a spreadsheet?

Yes. Copied cells are separated by tabs, which the tool detects. Commas and semicolons also work.

What if a value is missing?

Leave the cell empty. The line breaks there instead of drawing to zero.

Should the axis start at zero?

Starting at zero is the honest default for most charts, since it does not exaggerate changes. Turn it off to zoom in on values that vary within a narrow range.
