Study planner
List your topics with the hours each needs, set the date of the exam and how much you can study each day. The planner spreads the topics over the days, adds review days and shows if the time is not enough.
Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
How to use it
- Set the first day of study and the exam date.
- List the topics, one per line, with the hours each needs.
- Set the hours you can study per day, a weekly day off and the review options.
- Read the schedule, then print it if you want a paper copy.
How the plan is built
The days from the first study day to the day before the exam are listed. Days off are marked first, then the final review days at the end, then optional weekly review days after every six study days. Remaining study days are filled in order with your topics in quarter-hour steps, up to the hours per day. Days left once every topic is covered are free days, a buffer for what took longer than expected.
Worked example
With four topics of 6, 4, 5 and 3 hours (18 hours), 3 hours a day and no day off, algebra takes the first two days, geometry the third and part of the fourth, and so on, with the last topic finishing on day 6. The final review days then repeat all four topics, and any days between are free.
Tips
- Add a margin: give each topic a little more time than you think it needs.
- Put the topics you find hardest first, so the free days at the end are a buffer and not a surprise.
Frequently asked questions
How does the planner fill the days?
It takes the topics in the order you list them and fills each study day up to your daily limit, splitting a long topic over several days. Rest days, weekly review days and the final review days are set aside first.
What are the review days?
If you tick the weekly option, every seventh day that would be a study day becomes a review day for the topics covered since the last one. The last days before the exam, which you choose, are a review of every topic.
What if there is not enough time?
The summary says how many hours of topics do not fit and roughly how many hours per day would cover everything. Raise the daily hours, take out a day off or a topic, or start earlier.
Is my plan saved?
Only if you tick the remember option. Then the entries are kept in this browser with localStorage, nothing is sent to a server, and unticking it removes them.
