Math worksheet generator
Pick an operation and the range for each number, then print the sheet. The seed number makes the sheet repeatable: the same settings and seed always give the same problems, so you can print the answer key again later or hand the same sheet to a colleague.
Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
How to use it
- Choose the operation, or Mixed to take addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in turn.
- Set the range of the first and second number and how many problems you want.
- Press New worksheet for a different set, or type a seed to recreate one.
- Press Print. The answer key starts on its own page.
How it works
A small seeded generator picks the numbers. Subtraction swaps the operands when needed, and division multiplies the divisor by the quotient to build the dividend.
Worked example
Multiplication with both ranges 2 to 9 and 20 problems gives facts such as 7 × 8 = ______, with the key listing 56.
Tips
Keep a note of the seed and settings on the back of a copy: they are all you need to print the same answer key again.
Frequently asked questions
How does the seed work?
A seed is the starting number of the random generator. With the same seed and the same settings you get exactly the same problems in the same order, so a sheet can be recreated without saving it.
How are subtraction and division problems made?
Subtraction always puts the larger number first, so answers are never negative. Division is exact: the second number is the divisor (at least 1), the first is the quotient, and the dividend is their product, so there are no remainders.
What does the first and second number range mean?
For addition, subtraction and multiplication they are the two operands. For division the first range is the answer and the second is the divisor, so 1 to 10 and 2 to 9 gives problems like 56 ÷ 7 = 8.
Does anything leave my browser?
No. The sheet is generated in your browser, and printing uses your browser's print dialog.
