Optional. Dates as YYYY-MM-DD or DD.MM.YYYY, separated by spaces or commas. No public holidays are built in.

The day notice is given is day 0. Rules differ by country, contract and industry: this tool applies no country's law, so confirm the rule and the last day with your contract or employer.

Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Enter the date notice is given.
  2. Enter the length and choose calendar days, working days, weeks or months.
  3. For working days, list public holidays or other days off you want skipped.

How it works

Calendar days and weeks are added to the date given. Months use the same day of the month, clamped to the end of shorter months. Working days are counted one by one from the next day, skipping Saturdays, Sundays and the listed dates; the last day is the one on which the count reaches your number.

Worked example

Notice given on Tuesday, 3 November 2026:

  • 30 calendar days end on Thursday, 3 December 2026.
  • 10 working days end on Tuesday, 17 November 2026: 4, 5 and 6 November, then 9 to 13, then 16 and 17 November. The 14 calendar days include 4 weekend days. If 5 November is a listed day off, the last day moves to 18 November.

Tips

  • Compare with your contract before planning a start date elsewhere.
  • Use the working days option when weekends should not shorten your notice.

Frequently asked questions

Does the day I give notice count as day 1?

Here it does not. The day of giving is day 0 and the next day is day 1. Some contracts count differently, so check yours.

How are working days counted?

The calculator counts Monday to Friday and skips the extra days off that you list. The last day is the day on which the chosen number of working days is reached.

What happens with months?

The same day of the month is used, so one month from 3 November is 3 December. If that day does not exist, the last day of the month is used, so one month from 31 January is 28 February.

Is this legal advice?

No. The notice period and the way it is counted come from your contract and local law, which the tool does not know. Use it as a calendar helper.
