How to use it
- For each day you worked, enter the start and end time and any unpaid break in minutes.
- Leave the other days empty, or press Clear all to start over.
- Read the total as decimal hours and as hours and minutes. Add an hourly rate to see the pay for those hours.
How it is calculated
For each row the shift length is end minus start in minutes, plus 24 hours when the end is earlier than the start. The break is subtracted, and all rows are added. Decimal hours are the minutes divided by 60, shown to two decimals.
Worked example
A week of five 09:00 to 17:00 shifts with a 30-minute break: each day is 8 hours minus 30 minutes, which is 7 hours 30 minutes. Five days make 37 hours 30 minutes, or 37.50 decimal hours. At a rate of 20 per hour that is 750.00.
Tips
Use the 24-hour form of times if your browser asks for it; the time fields follow your device settings. Check your employer’s rounding policy: many round to the nearest 5 or 15 minutes, and this calculator does not round.
