Schengen 90/180 days calculator

Enter your stays in the Schengen area and a date. The calculator counts the days you spent in the 180 days up to that date, how many of the 90 allowed days are left, and how long you could stay if you entered on that date.

How to use it

  1. Add each past or planned stay with its entry and exit date. The first and last day are both counted.
  2. Choose the date to check, for example today or the day you plan to enter.
  3. Read how many of the 90 days are used and left, and how long you could stay if you entered on that date.

How the days are counted

  • Every date from entry to exit, inclusive, is one day of stay. Overlapping stays count each day once.
  • The window for a date D covers 180 days: D and the 179 days before it.
  • Days used = days of stay inside that window. Days left = 90 minus days used; if the number is negative, the tool shows the days over the limit.
  • For the planned stay, the calculator adds one day at a time from the check date, moving the window along, and stops before the day on which more than 90 days would be used. The last day shown is the last day inside the limit.

Worked example

Stays on 1 to 20 June 2026 (20 days) and 10 to 24 September 2026 (15 days), checked on 3 November 2026: the window starts on 8 May 2026 and includes both stays, so 35 days are used and 55 are left.

Important

The rule applies to short stays. Some travellers have other rules, for example people with a residence permit or visa-free agreements with specific states. This tool does not check nationality, permits or which countries are in the area. It is not legal advice: check the official EU short-stay calculator before you travel.

Frequently asked questions

How does the 90/180-day rule work?

A person who may stay without a long-stay permit can spend up to 90 days in any period of 180 days in the Schengen area. The 180 days are not a calendar block but a window that moves back from each day.

Do the day of entry and the day of exit count?

Yes. Both are counted as days of stay, so a stay from 1 June to 20 June is 20 days, not 19. This calculator counts them the same way.

Where do the stays come from?

From you. The calculator does not know your passport stamps or records, so it is only as correct as the dates you type. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

Is the result legal advice?

No. Rules differ by nationality and permit, and border authorities decide. Use this tool for planning and verify your dates with the official EU short-stay calculator.
