How to use it
- Choose the date and time of the event. The time is in your own time zone, which is named under the field.
- Add a title if you like, for example “Wedding” or “Exam” (up to 80 characters).
- Watch the days, hours, minutes and seconds go down.
- Press Copy link to share the countdown.
Opened without a link, the page counts down to the next New Year in your local time.
How it works
The countdown takes the moment of the event and, every second, subtracts the current time of your device. What is left is split into days, hours, minutes and seconds, rounded up to the whole second, so zero appears exactly at the moment of the event. Then the page says “The time has come!”.
In the link, the moment is written in UTC (the to parameter) and the title in the t parameter. That is why the link does not depend on time zones: every recipient reaches zero in the same second, while the date under the numbers is shown in their local time.
Worked example
It is 3 November 2026, 12:00 noon local time. Until New Year, 1 January 2027 at 00:00, there are:
- 27 days and 12 hours to the end of November, then the 31 days of December;
- in total 58 days, 12 hours, 0 minutes and 0 seconds.
Tips
- The countdown is as accurate as your device clock, which is normally set automatically.
- For an event in another city, enter the time in your own zone; the time zone converter helps you work it out.
- Just need 10 minutes? The online timer is simpler and has an alarm.
