How to use it
- Choose or drop 2 to 9 pictures.
- Reorder them with the arrows if needed and pick a layout.
- Set the shape (1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9 or 9:16), the output width, the spacing and the background colour.
- Choose how the pictures fit their cells and press Download collage.
How it works
The collage canvas is divided into rows (or columns). Each row has an equal share of the height; inside a row the pictures share the width equally. Rows with different counts use a common grid: a row of 2 above a row of 3 works on a 6-part grid, where the first row’s pictures span 3 parts each and the second row’s span 2. The spacing is subtracted between all cells and around the edge.
For example, two pictures side by side on a 1000 × 500 canvas with 10 px spacing give two cells of 485 × 480 px at x = 10 and x = 505. Each cell is then filled by the picture: in Fill mode the largest part of the picture with the cell’s shape is taken from its centre, so a 400 × 200 picture in a square cell loses 100 px on the left and on the right.
Tips
- Use JPG for photo collages and PNG if you want sharp text or graphics.
- If the pictures have different shapes, Show whole picture avoids cropping faces; pick a background colour that suits them.
- For social media, 1:1 or 4:3 or 3:4 are common shapes; 9:16 is tall like a phone screen.
Frequently asked questions
How many pictures can I combine?
From 2 to 9. The layouts on offer depend on how many pictures you have: for four there is a 2×2 square, a single row or column, and uneven ones such as one picture beside three. Remove or add pictures and the layout list updates.
What do the layout names mean?
Even grids are written as columns × rows: 3×2 is three columns and two rows. Uneven layouts list how many pictures are in each row, so 1+2 is one wide picture above two. A bar after the numbers (1+2|) means the numbers are columns instead: one tall picture beside two stacked ones.
What is the difference between Fill and Show whole picture?
Fill covers the whole cell and trims whatever sticks out, taking the middle of the picture. Show whole picture fits the picture inside the cell without trimming, and the background colour shows around it.
How is the spacing measured?
In pixels at an output width of 1080, and it scales with the output width, so the collage looks the same at 3000 px. The same spacing is used between the pictures and around the edge.
Can I change the order of the pictures?
Yes. Use the up and down buttons in the list. Pictures fill the cells in reading order, left to right and top to bottom (for column layouts, top to bottom in each column first).
