How to use it
- Choose a video file.
- Set Start and End in seconds. The first 3 seconds are preselected.
- Choose Frames per second and Width; the height follows the video’s proportions.
- Press Create GIF, watch the progress, then preview and download it.
How it works
For each time from the start in steps of 1/fps, the tool seeks the video, draws the frame scaled to the chosen width, and reads its pixels. The frames are quantized to 256 colours each with a median-cut palette and written as an animated GIF that loops forever, each frame shown for 1/fps seconds (rounded to hundredths of a second, the unit GIF uses).
Worked example
A range of 2 s at 10 fps captures 20 frames (at 0, 0.1, 0.2 … 1.9 s). Each is shown for 100 ms, so the GIF lasts 2 s.
Tips
- 8 to 12 frames per second is smooth enough for most reactions and demos.
- Crop the idea, not the file: pick a clip that loops naturally.
