Image watermark

Add your name or logo to pictures before you share them. Choose text or a logo image, place it in one of nine spots or repeat it across the whole picture, and set opacity, size and rotation. Several pictures can be marked at once. Everything runs in your browser.

Everything happens in your browser. Your files are never uploaded.

Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Choose one or more pictures.
  2. Pick Text and type your watermark, or pick Logo image and choose a file.
  3. Set the size, opacity and rotation. Choose one of the nine positions, or Tile across the picture.
  4. Check the preview, then press Download next to a picture or Download all.

How it works

Each picture is drawn on a canvas first, then the mark is drawn over it with the chosen opacity. For corner and edge positions the mark keeps a distance of 3% of the shorter side from the border. Take a 1000 × 800 picture and a mark of 200 × 100: bottom right puts it at x = 776, y = 676; the centre puts it at x = 400, y = 350.

In tile mode the mark centres are laid on a grid whose steps are the mark size plus the spacing. The grid reaches out to half the picture diagonal so no corner stays bare when the pattern is rotated. A 300 × 400 picture with an 80 × 30 mark and a 20 px gap needs 7 columns and 11 rows, 77 marks. Very small marks are capped at 2500 repetitions.

Tips

  • White text with a soft shadow is readable on most photos; the text is drawn with a soft dark shadow for this reason.
  • For a protective watermark use tiling with an opacity of 20–30% and a slight rotation; for a signature use a corner with a higher opacity.
  • A PNG logo with a transparent background blends in; a logo with a white box will show that box.

Frequently asked questions

Is my picture uploaded anywhere?

No. The picture is decoded and drawn by your own browser and the result is created on your device, so the original never leaves it.

How is the size of the watermark set?

As a share of the picture width, so the same setting looks alike on small and large pictures. For text it is the font size (6% of a 1000 px wide picture is 60 px); for a logo it is the logo width, and the height follows the logo's own proportions.

What file format do I get back?

JPEG, PNG and WebP pictures keep their format. Any other format, such as GIF or BMP, is saved as PNG. JPEG is saved at quality 92.

Can I mark many pictures at once?

Yes. Drop several files, check the preview of the first one and press Download all. The files are saved one after another with -watermarked added to the name, because browsers throttle many simultaneous downloads.

How does tiling work?

The mark is repeated in a grid that covers the whole picture, with every other row shifted by half a step. The spacing slider sets the gap as a share of the mark width, and the rotation turns the whole pattern around the centre.
