Passport photo maker
Open a portrait, pick the country size, move the crop box over the face and download a 300 dpi photo, or a ready-to-print 4x6 in sheet with as many copies as fit. Your photo stays on your device.
Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
How to use it
- Open a clear, front-facing photo with the whole head and shoulders visible.
- Choose the photo size for your country or document.
- Drag the crop box or its corners so that the face sits inside the dashed guide.
- Download the single photo, or the 4 × 6 in sheet for a photo lab or home printer.
How it works
The crop box keeps the exact proportions of the chosen size. On download, the area inside it is scaled to the 300 dpi pixel size: 2 × 2 in is 600 × 600 px, 35 × 45 mm is 413 × 531 px, 50 × 70 mm is 591 × 827 px and 33 × 48 mm is 390 × 567 px. The sheet is a 1800 × 1200 px page (4 × 6 in), and the photos are tiled with no gaps, so cut along the thin grey lines.
Check the official rules
Passport authorities set their own limits for head height, eye position, background, glasses and expression. The size presets and the dashed head guide are guidance only: check your country’s official rules before you print or submit anything.
Tips
- Use daylight facing a window and a plain light wall, with no shadows on the face or background.
- Start from a high-resolution original. Cropping a small photo gives a soft print.
- Print the sheet at 100% scale (actual size) and on photo paper for the best result.
Frequently asked questions
Are these sizes accepted for my passport or visa?
The sizes are the commonly published ones, but rules change and differ by document: background colour, head size, expression and print quality are checked too. Always check your country's official rules before ordering or submitting.
What is the dashed oval on the picture?
A rough guide to how large the head should appear in the frame. It is guidance only and not an official template, and requirements vary, so compare with the official specification.
How does the 4 x 6 sheet work?
Copies of your cropped photo are tiled edge to edge on a 1200 × 1800 px (4 × 6 in) image at 300 dpi, turned sideways if that fits more. Thin grey lines mark where to cut. Print it at 100% size, with no scaling or fit to page.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Cropping and the sheet are made in your browser, so the photo never leaves your device.
Can this tool change the background colour?
No. Take the photo against a plain light background, or remove the background with the image background remover first.
