How to use it

  1. Add your photos. Use the arrows to change the order and the cross to remove one.
  2. Type a Caption if you want text under the last frame.
  3. Choose the Paper colour, Frame size, Black and white and whether the strip is Horizontal.
  4. Download the PNG.

How it works

Each photo is cropped to a square from its centre and drawn at the frame size. Margin is 7% of the frame side, the gap is half the margin and a band of 20% of the frame is left for the caption. Black and white uses the common luma weights 0.299, 0.587 and 0.114.

Worked example

Four 600 px frames give margin 42, gap 21 and a 120 px band: width 42 + 600 + 42 = 684, height 42 + 4 x 600 + 3 x 21 + 120 = 2625.

Tips

  • Take the photos in the same orientation and distance for a consistent strip.
  • A dark paper colour with a light caption looks good in black and white.

Frequently asked questions

How many photos can I add?

Up to eight. A real booth strip usually has four, so four is a typical choice, but any number from one to eight works.

How are the photos cropped?

Each photo is cropped to a square from its centre, like a booth frame. Crop the photo first if the subject is not in the middle.

What is the size of the strip?

With frames of 600 px and four photos, a vertical strip is 684 px wide and 2625 px tall. The margin is 7% of the frame, the gap half of that, and the caption band 20% of the frame.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. They are drawn onto a canvas in your browser.
