Image cropper

Open a picture, drag the box or its corners to choose what to keep, and download the cropped result. It works with a mouse and with touch, and the file never leaves your device.

Everything happens in your browser. Your files are never uploaded.

Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Choose or drop a picture.
  2. Pick an aspect ratio or leave it free, then drag the box and its corners.
  3. Use Rotate 90° if the picture lies on its side.
  4. Choose the output format and download the cropped picture. The size in pixels is shown under the picture.

How it works

The crop box is kept in the picture’s own pixels, so the result has exactly the dimensions shown. Dragging a corner keeps the opposite corner fixed. With a locked ratio, the box changes in proportion and stays inside the picture.

Tips

  • For a square avatar choose 1:1 and put the face in the middle of the box.
  • Crop first, then compress or resize, to avoid processing pixels you will throw away.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move and resize the crop box?

Drag inside the box to move it and drag a round corner handle to change its size. On a touch screen use your finger the same way.

What do the aspect ratio buttons do?

Free lets you shape the box as you like. 1:1, 4:3 and 16:9 keep the box in that proportion while you resize it, which suits profile pictures, standard photos and widescreen images.

Does cropping reduce quality?

No pixels are resampled: the selected area is copied at its original resolution. Saving as JPG or WebP applies compression, while PNG is lossless.

How does the rotate button work?

It turns the whole picture a quarter turn clockwise each time and resets the crop box, so you can fix a sideways photo before cutting it.

Is my picture uploaded?

No. Cropping uses a canvas in your browser, and files are limited to 100 MB.
