Time is counted from the moment a target appears until you hit it, so it includes your reaction time as well as your aim. Works with a mouse, trackpad or finger.

Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Press Start. A target appears in the area.
  2. Press the target. The next one appears somewhere else.
  3. After 20 hits the results show hits, misses, accuracy, mean time per hit and best hit.

How it works

Positions are random but kept away from the edges. Each hit time runs from the target appearing to your press.

Worked example

3 hits and 1 miss give an accuracy of 3 / 4 = 75 %. Hit times of 600, 700 and 800 ms have a mean of 700 ms and a best of 600 ms.

Tips

  • Compare scores on the same mouse, surface and screen size.
  • Slow down if accuracy drops; speed follows accuracy.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a miss?

Any press inside the play area that is not on the target. Accuracy is hits divided by hits plus misses.

How is the time per hit measured?

The page notes performance.now() when a target appears and again when you press it, and averages the differences over your hits.

Is a smaller or larger target better for practice?

The target size here is fixed so results stay comparable between sessions on the same device.

Can I use it on a phone?

Yes. The area scales to the screen width and taps count like clicks.
