Vibration test

Choose a pattern and press Play. If your phone and browser support vibration, it buzzes. Write your own pattern as a list of milliseconds, alternating vibrate and pause.

Pick a pattern and press Play.

Pattern
200
Total length
200 ms

Vibration works only after a tap on the page, and browsers may limit pattern length. Support differs between browsers, so a missing result does not always mean a broken motor.

Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Open the page on a phone.
  2. Choose a ready-made pattern, or Custom to type your own.
  3. Press Play and feel for the buzz.
  4. Press Stop to cancel.

How patterns work

A pattern is a list of numbers. Odd positions are vibration times, even positions are pauses, all in milliseconds. The page sums them as the total length.

Worked example

The heartbeat pattern 120, 80, 120, 600, 120, 80, 120 buzzes twice, rests 600 ms, then buzzes twice again. Its total is 120 + 80 + 120 + 600 + 120 + 80 + 120 = 1240 ms.

Tips

  • Turn off silent mode and battery saver first.
  • If the page says it did not vibrate, try another browser on the same phone.
  • Very short pulses under about 20 ms can be too weak to feel on some phones.

Frequently asked questions

Why does nothing vibrate?

Not all browsers support the Vibration API, and computers usually have no vibration motor. On a phone, silent mode, battery saver or a system setting that disables vibration can also block it.

How is a pattern written?

As numbers in milliseconds. The first number is vibration time, the second is pause, the third vibration again, and so on. 200, 100, 200 means buzz 200 ms, pause 100 ms, buzz 200 ms.

Why is there a limit on the pattern length?

Browsers may cap the number of items or total time of a pattern. The page keeps patterns to 40 numbers and 10 seconds, which is enough for a test.

Does the page need permission?

No permission prompt, but the browser requires the call to follow a tap or click on the page, which is why vibration starts only when you press Play.

How do I stop a long vibration?

Press Stop. It sends a zero-length pattern, which cancels the current vibration.
