What is my browser?

The page reads what your browser reports about itself and lists it in one place: browser and version, operating system, rendering engine, language, screen and touch support. Copy it as plain text to paste into a support request or bug report.

Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

What you see

  • Browser and version, read from Client Hints when available and from the User-Agent string otherwise. Edge, Opera and Samsung Internet are recognised before Chrome, because their strings also contain “Chrome”.
  • Operating system with version, the rendering engine (Blink, Gecko or WebKit) and whether the device looks like a phone or a desktop.
  • Languages in your preference order, whether cookies are enabled, JavaScript (it is on, or this page could not run), touch points and screen size with pixel ratio.
  • The full User-Agent string.

Worked example

A string containing Edg/120.0.2210.91 and Chrome/120.0.0.0 is reported as Edge 120.0.2210.91 on the Blink engine, not Chrome, because the Edge token is checked first. Mac OS X 10_15_7 is shown as macOS 10.15.7, a placeholder Apple has used in Safari strings for years, so the real macOS version may be newer.

Tips

  • Reporting a bug. Press Copy as text and paste the result into the report.
  • Wrong version? Privacy modes and extensions can change what the browser reports.
  • Screen size. The screen resolution tool shows more detail about the display.

Frequently asked questions

How does the page know my browser?

It reads the values your browser exposes to every web page. Where supported it asks the User-Agent Client Hints API for exact versions, and otherwise it parses the classic User-Agent string. Nothing is sent to a server.

Why does my Windows 11 PC say Windows 10?

The User-Agent string says Windows NT 10.0 for both versions. Browsers with Client Hints report the real platform version, and then the page shows it. Without it, the page can only say 10/11.

Why does an iPhone browser show the WebKit engine?

Every browser on iOS, including Chrome and Firefox, is built on Apple's WebKit engine, so the engine is WebKit whatever the browser name.

Why are some values blank or dashes?

Some browsers hide details to reduce fingerprinting, and Safari and Firefox do not offer Client Hints. A dash means the browser gave no value.

What are touch points?

It is the maximum number of fingers the screen can track at once. A normal mouse-only desktop shows 0.
