Frequently asked questions

How are the names made?

Each name is built from word lists written for this tool and a few templates per style, chosen at random in your browser. Rock favours patterns such as "The Electric Wolves", indie soft nouns, metal dark words and pop bright, sugary ones. No AI model is involved and nothing is sent to a server.

Why do I sometimes get fewer names than I asked for?

The tool draws distinct names and gives up after a limited number of attempts. A style with few templates can run short on large requests; press the button again or switch style.

Can I be sure a band name is not already taken or trademarked?

No. The tool does not look anything up, and similar names may already exist. If you need a unique name, search for it first.

Do the genres follow strict rules?

No. A genre only changes which word lists and patterns are used, so a rock name may sound like indie and the other way round. Treat them as starting points.
