YouTube timestamp link generator
Paste a YouTube link or video ID and the moment you want to share. The tool gives you a link that starts at that second, in short, full and embed form. It all happens in your browser.
Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
How to use it
- Paste the video link or its ID.
- Type the start time.
- Copy the short link to share, or the embed URL for a web page.
How it works
The video ID is found in the link (v=, the path of youtu.be, /embed/, /shorts/ or /live/) and must be 11 characters of letters, digits, - and _. The time is converted to seconds: 1:02:03 is 1 × 3600 + 2 × 60 + 3 = 3723.
Example: dQw4w9WgXcQ at 1:02:03 gives https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?t=3723.
Tips
- Check the link in a private window to see it start where you expect.
- Put the time in the message too, so people know why the link matters.
- Use the embed URL inside an iframe
src on your own page.
Frequently asked questions
Which links can I paste?
Regular watch links, youtu.be short links, embed, shorts and live links, or just the 11-character video ID. Any time already in the pasted link is ignored and replaced by yours.
What is the difference between the links?
The short link uses ?t= with the number of seconds. The full link uses &t= with seconds followed by s. The embed URL uses start=, the parameter for the embedded player. All are written with seconds.
How do I write the time?
Plain seconds (90), minutes and seconds (1:30), hours (1:02:03) or letters (1h2m3s). In the colon form every part after the first must be below 60, so 75:10 is fine but 1:75 is not.
Will the video start exactly there?
It should start at that second. Autoplay can depend on the browser and the app, which may ask for a tap first.
Does the tool contact YouTube?
No. It only edits the text of the link in your browser. The video is not loaded.
