Frequently asked questions

What makes a tongue twister hard?

Words that repeat similar sounds in different orders, such as s and sh, or r and l, make the mouth switch positions quickly. Hard twisters pack more of these into one sentence.

How should I practise?

Say it slowly and clearly three times, then a little faster, then at normal speed. Accuracy comes before speed. Stop if your voice feels strained, and have a sip of water.

Are these classic twisters?

No. The sentences were written for this tool. Each level has 12 twisters, so you will see repeats after a few draws.

Can it help with speech therapy?

It is a fun warm-up for actors, presenters and learners. It is not therapy. If you or a child have trouble with speech, a speech-language professional can help.
