Epic titles and heroic names Captain Thor, Luna the Brave

Tips for picking

Say the name out loud a few times, including in the voice you use at the park. Check that it is not too close to the names of other pets or people at home. If you have a puppy, give it a day or two before you decide: the name often fits once you know the personality.

Frequently asked questions

How are the names made?

Each name is built from word lists written for this tool and a few templates per style, chosen at random in your browser. The classic and cute styles pick from lists of dozens of names; funny and epic combine names with puns, titles or epithets. No AI model is involved and nothing is sent to a server.

Why do I sometimes get fewer names than I asked for?

The tool draws distinct names and gives up after a limited number of attempts. A style with few templates can run short on large requests; press the button again or switch style.

Can I be sure a dog name is not already taken or trademarked?

No. The tool does not look anything up, and similar names may already exist. If you need a unique name, search for it first.

How do I choose a name my dog will respond to?

Many trainers suggest a short name of one or two syllables that is easy to say clearly, and that does not sound like a command such as "sit" or "no". This is a common rule of thumb, not a rule. Try the name for a few days and see how it feels.
