Wheel spinner
Put one option per line and spin. The result is chosen first with a secure random source and the wheel is then animated to land on it, so the animation never changes the odds.
Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
How to use it
- Replace the example with your own entries, one per line. Empty lines are ignored.
- Press Spin. The wheel turns for a few seconds and the winner appears below it.
- To choose another one without repeats, press Remove winner and spin again.
How it works
The tool draws a random whole number from 0 to the number of entries minus one, then rotates the wheel several full turns and stops with a random point inside that entry’s slice under the pointer. Animation frames are requested only while the wheel is turning, so the page is idle the rest of the time.
Ideas
- Choosing who goes first, who presents, or what to eat.
- Classroom turns: remove each winner until everyone has had a go.
- Weighting: repeat a line to give that option more slices.
Limits
Up to 100 entries. With more than 40 entries the slice labels are hidden because they would be unreadable, but the winner is still shown in text.
Frequently asked questions
Is the spin fair?
Yes. The winner is drawn first, uniformly among the entries, using the browser's secure random generator. The animation is then calculated to stop on that entry. Every entry has the same chance, whatever its text length.
How do I pick several winners without repeats?
Spin, then press "Remove winner" and spin again. The removed entry disappears from the list, so it cannot win twice.
Can I repeat an entry to make it more likely?
Yes. Each line is one slice of the same size, so writing a name twice gives it two slices and twice the chance.
Does it work with reduced motion turned on?
Yes. If your device asks for reduced motion, the wheel jumps straight to the result without spinning.
