Love calculator

Enter two names to get a love percentage. It is a game: the number comes from a fixed recipe applied to the letters and means nothing about real relationships.

54%Love percentage

A strong match. This pair would win the three-legged race.

Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

How to use it

Write two names. The result appears at once and does not change unless you change a name.

What the score means

Nothing beyond fun. A low score is not a bad sign and a high score is not a promise. The messages are four short phrases for the ranges 0 to 24, 25 to 49, 50 to 79 and 80 to 100.

Ideas

Use it as a party game, a card message, or a laugh with a friend. Try nicknames and full names to see how the number changes: the recipe notices every letter.

Frequently asked questions

Is the love calculator accurate?

No. It is a game with no scientific basis. It cannot measure compatibility or predict a relationship. The number comes from the letters of the names and nothing else.

Will I always get the same result?

Yes. The names are lowercased, accents and spaces are removed, and the pair is put in alphabetical order before the score is worked out. So Romeo and Juliet give the same number as juliet and ROMEO.

How is the percentage worked out?

The two cleaned names are joined and run through a fixed 32-bit FNV-1a hash. The hash modulo 101 gives a whole number from 0 to 100. There is no randomness and nothing is stored or sent anywhere.

Can I use it for friends or pets?

Yes, any two names work, and it is fun at parties. Please do not use a score to make real decisions about people.
