Certificate maker
Pick a template and an accent colour, fill in the title, the name and why it is awarded, and download a landscape PDF for A4 or Letter. Leave the name or date empty to write it by hand after printing. It all happens in your browser.
Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
How to use it
- Choose A4 or Letter, a template and a colour.
- Fill in the title, the line above the name, the name, the reason and the date.
- Add a caption for one or two signature lines.
- Check the preview and download the PDF.
How it works
The page is always landscape. The template draws the border or bands in your accent colour, then the title, lead text, name with a line under it, the reason (up to four wrapped lines) and the date and signature lines at the bottom. Names and titles are made smaller when they are too wide.
Example
On A4 landscape (841.89 × 595.28 pt) the title sits at 29% of the page height, the name at 53% and the signature lines at 84%.
Tips
- Use a heavier paper for printing; see the paper weight converter if you are unsure about gsm.
- The preview fonts are close to the PDF’s, but spacing may differ slightly.
Frequently asked questions
Can I write the name by hand?
Yes. Leave the name empty and the certificate keeps a blank line under the lead text. The same goes for the date.
Why are some characters refused?
Certificates here use the standard Helvetica and Times fonts built into every PDF reader, which only cover Western European (Latin) text. Names in Cyrillic, Greek or Asian scripts cannot be drawn, so you get a message naming the first character. Printing the page instead of saving a PDF would use your own fonts, but this tool does not do that.
Can I print the preview instead of the PDF?
Yes. Print the preview prints only the certificate from your browser, using your own fonts; set the paper to landscape and margins to none in the print dialog.
What if the name is very long?
The name and title shrink in steps to fit 70% of the page width, down to 10 points.
