PDF Info Viewer

Choose a PDF and read its facts: how many pages, which page sizes, which PDF version, the title and author, and when it was created and changed. Nothing is uploaded.

Everything happens in your browser. Your files are never uploaded.

Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Choose or drop a PDF.
  2. Read the table of facts and the list of page sizes.

How it works

The file is read with pdf-lib in your browser. The version comes from the %PDF- header at the start of the file, the page sizes from each page’s media box, and the properties from the document information dictionary. Dates are shown in your browser’s format and time zone.

Example

An A4 document of 12 pages where page 7 is a landscape table shows two sizes: 11 pages of 595.3 × 841.9 pt (210 × 297 mm, 8.27 × 11.69 in, matches A4) and 1 page of 841.9 × 595.3 pt, first on page 7.

Tips

  • If a print shop asks for the page size, read it from the list in millimetres.
  • Mixed sizes in one file often explain odd print results.

Frequently asked questions

What is the PDF version?

It is the number in the first line of the file, such as 1.4 or 1.7. It tells which features the file may use. Newer readers open all versions, and the number alone does not say how the file was made.

How are page sizes given?

In points, where 72 points are one inch, and also in millimetres and inches. A page that is stored rotated by 90 or 270 degrees is shown the way you see it, with width and height swapped. Sizes within 2 points of A3, A4, A5, Letter or Legal are named.

Why are some properties empty?

Many files carry no title, author or keywords, and some programs write only the producer. The tool shows a dash where the file has no value.

Why can it not open my file?

Password-protected files are refused, and so are damaged files. Remove the password first and try again.

Can I change the properties?

Not here. Use the PDF metadata editor to change the title, author and other properties.
