How to use it
- Choose or drop a PDF.
- Wait for the progress count to finish; the text appears in the box.
- Press Copy or Download .txt. Tick the page-mark box if you want page separators.
How it works
The tool asks pdf.js for the text items of each page and joins them, adding a line break wherever the PDF marks the end of a line. Pages are separated by a blank line. The download is UTF-8 and named after the PDF with the extension .txt.
Example
A 2-page PDF with the words “Hello” on page 1 and “World” on page 2 gives Hello, a blank line and World; with page marks it starts with --- Page 1 ---.
Tips
- Text copied from PDFs often has hard line breaks in the middle of sentences; the find and replace tool can join them.
- If the text looks garbled, the PDF probably uses a custom font encoding that does not map to normal characters.
