Items

In the print window choose "Save as PDF" as the destination to get a file. Only the receipt is printed.

Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Fill in the store name, address, receipt number and date.
  2. Add each item with its quantity and price, and set the tax rate.
  3. Enter the amount paid to see the change, or leave it empty.
  4. Press Print or save as PDF.

How it works

Each line is quantity times price, rounded half up to cents. The tax is applied to the subtotal. The change is the amount paid minus the total, and if the payment is short the receipt shows what is still due.

Example

Two items at 3.50 and one at 2.75 make 9.75. At 10% tax (0.975, rounded to 0.98) the total is 10.73, and paying 20 gives 9.27 change.

Tips

  • Leave the amount paid empty for card payments and type the method instead.
  • Use the same date format on every receipt you keep.

Frequently asked questions

How is the tax worked out?

The subtotal is the sum of the lines, each rounded to cents. Tax is the subtotal times the rate, rounded to the nearest cent, and the total is the subtotal plus the tax.

How do I get a PDF?

Press Print or save as PDF and choose Save as PDF as the printer. This way any alphabet works in the receipt.

Is this receipt a legal document?

It is a plain record of a sale. Rules for official receipts and tax invoices differ by country, so check what applies to your business.

Is anything stored or uploaded?

No. The receipt is made in your browser, and reloading the page resets the form.
