Split PDF

Choose a PDF, type the pages you want such as 1-3,5, and download the pieces. The file is processed locally and is not uploaded.

Everything happens in your browser. Your files are never uploaded.

Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Choose or drop a PDF; its page count appears.
  2. Select a mode and, unless you split every page, type the pages, for example 1-3,5.
  3. Press Split, then download the files that appear.

Example

On a 10-page file, 1-3,5 in One file per range mode gives two PDFs: name-pages-1-3.pdf and name-page-5.pdf. In One file with these pages mode it gives one PDF with four pages (1, 2, 3 and 5).

How it works

Selected pages are copied into new documents with the pdf-lib library. Page content is not re-rendered, so text stays selectable and the quality is unchanged.

Tips

  • To rearrange or combine the pieces afterwards, use the merge PDF tool.
  • Need pictures of the pages? Try the PDF to JPG tool.

Frequently asked questions

How do I write the page ranges?

Separate parts with commas: 1-3,5 means pages 1 to 3 and page 5. A single number is one page and a backwards range such as 5-2 is read as 2-5.

What is the difference between the three modes?

One file per range makes a separate PDF for every part you typed. Every page separately makes one PDF per page. One file with these pages joins the chosen pages into a single new PDF.

How do I download many files?

Each result has its own button, and Download all saves them one after another. Your browser may ask to allow multiple downloads.

Is my document uploaded?

No. The PDF is read and cut by your browser using the pdf-lib library.

Why does my file not open?

Password-protected and damaged PDFs cannot be processed. Each file can be up to 100 MB.
