Resize PDF Pages

Pick a paper size and whether to fit the whole page or fill the sheet, and each page is scaled and centred on a new page of that size. Mixed-size files come out uniform.

How to use it

  1. Choose or drop a PDF.
  2. Pick the paper size, orientation and scaling.
  3. Press Resize and download. The file is named name-a4.pdf (or the size you chose).

How it works

Every source page is embedded in a new page of the chosen size. The scale is the smaller of the width and height ratios for Fit and the larger for Fill; the page is then centred. Paper sizes: A5 148 × 210 mm, A4 210 × 297 mm, A3 297 × 420 mm, Letter 8.5 × 11 in and Legal 8.5 × 14 in. Rotated pages are turned upright first.

Example

A US Letter page (612 × 792 pt) fitted to A4 (595.28 × 841.89 pt) is scaled by 595.28 ÷ 612 = 0.973 and centred with a small white strip at the top and bottom.

Tips

  • Use Fit for documents with text near the edges and Fill for photos or posters.
  • Check the margin your printer needs; scaling does not add any.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Fit and Fill?

Fit scales the page down or up until all of it is inside the sheet, which can leave white bars. Fill scales until the sheet is covered, which can cut off edges.

Does the text stay text?

Yes. Pages are placed on the new sheets as page content, not as pictures, so text remains selectable and sharp.

What does Follow each page do?

A landscape source page gets a landscape sheet and a portrait page a portrait sheet, so you do not squeeze a wide page onto a tall one.

Can I mix sizes?

The whole file gets one paper size. Pages that are different sizes in the source are each scaled to it.

Is my file uploaded?

No. It is processed in your browser. Password-protected files cannot be opened, and each file can be up to 100 MB.
