Insert Blank Pages into PDF

Choose a PDF, say where the blank pages go and download the new file. A blank page copies the size and turn of the page before it, so the result prints evenly.

Everything happens in your browser. Your files are never uploaded.

Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Choose or drop a PDF.
  2. Pick After the pages I list and type page numbers such as 2, 5-7, or pick After every Nth page and set N.
  3. Set how many blanks go at each spot, and tick the box if you also want blanks before page 1.
  4. Press Insert and download. The file is named name-with-blanks.pdf.

How it works

The tool copies the pages into a new PDF with pdf-lib and adds an empty page of the same dimensions wherever you asked. The line under the options shows how many pages will be added.

Example

A 5-page file with every 2 pages gets blanks after pages 2 and 4 and has 7 pages: 1, 2, blank, 3, 4, blank, 5. With a list of 5 and one copy, it ends with a blank page and has 6 pages.

Tips

  • To make an odd-page file even for double-sided printing, list the last page number.
  • Page numbers in the list refer to the original file, not to the result.

Frequently asked questions

What size are the blank pages?

Each blank page has the size of the page it follows, and the same turn if that page is stored sideways. Blanks at the very start copy the first page.

Does every Nth page add a blank after the last page?

No. With the every-N option a blank is never put after the last page. To add one there, use the list option and type the last page number.

Can I add several blanks in one place?

Yes. Set Blank pages at each spot to a number from 1 to 10.

What is it good for?

Common uses are a blank back after each chapter for double-sided printing, or space for handwritten notes between slides.

Why does it refuse my file?

Password-protected and damaged PDFs cannot be processed. Each file can be up to 100 MB.
