Label sheet generator

Enter the number of columns and rows and the margins and gaps from your label pack, then type the text for each label. Download a PDF for A4 or Letter and print it at actual size on the label sheet. Nothing is uploaded.

Runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Pick A4 or Letter and the units.
  2. Enter columns, rows, margins and gaps from your label pack.
  3. Type the text: the same on every label, or one line per label.
  4. Print a test with the outlines on, then download the final PDF.

How it works

The label width is the page width minus both side margins and all the gaps, divided by the number of columns; the height works the same way. Text is wrapped to the label width, centred or left aligned, and centred vertically. Lines that do not fit in the label height are dropped.

Example

A4 with 7.2 mm side margins, 2.5 mm gaps and 3 columns: (210 − 14.4 − 5) / 3 = 63.53 mm per label. With 15 mm top and bottom margins and 7 rows, no row gap: (297 − 30) / 7 = 38.14 mm.

Tips

  • Always print at actual size and turn off any “scale to fit” option.
  • Leave the outlines off for the final print so they do not appear on your labels.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find the margins and gaps?

They are usually on the label pack or the maker's template page: the margin from the sheet edge to the first label and the gap between labels. The defaults here describe a common 3 × 7 A4 layout; treat them as a starting point and measure your sheet.

How do I print a different name on each label?

Choose different text per label and type one label per line. If there are more lines than labels on a sheet, extra pages are added, up to 50. Use | inside a line for a line break, for example Name | Street | City.

The text does not line up with my labels. What now?

Print a test page on plain paper with the outlines switched on, hold it against the label sheet, and adjust the margins and gaps. Print at 100% (actual size), not fit to page.

Which characters work?

Latin text only, because the PDF uses the standard Helvetica font. Accented Western European letters, € and £ work; Cyrillic, Greek and CJK characters are refused with a message.
